Symptom

  • Upgrade to 16.0 SP04
  • Msg 3689, Level 17, State 1 while loading instmsgs.ebf

Server 'servername', Procedure 'sp_configure', Line 1335:
Cannot allocate shared memory as 'max memory' limit of 'XXX' pages has been
reached. Please increase configuration parameter 'max memory' to allow
additional shared memory allocation. Total physical memory allocated so far
'XXX' pages.

Configuration option changed. ASE need not be rebooted since the option is
dynamic.
Changing the value of 'allow updates to system tables' to '1' increases the
amount of memory ASE uses by 131168 K.
