3082012 - Search Filter is Displaying Multiple Items instead of Specific Item

You are searching for a product with the product name or id in the basic search filter in List price view, but system displays multiple records instead of specific product.

However in advanced filter, it displays only specific record.

1. Go to Product Portfolio work center
2. Select view List Prices
3. Filter with all list prices
4. Search with a product name or id
5. System displays the correct product along with multiple other records.

The Basic search works on approximate string matching which is also known as fuzzy string searching which is a technique that matches a pattern approximately rather than exactly. Therefore, the search will pull up all items that have any mention to the search term within their records.

The basic search field is not referring to any specific field like product id or supplier id etc, here you can enter any text and search. It will try to find the matching records.

But in advanced filter, the fields are specific, so when you enter specific product id in the relevant field, it will search only for that product.

Please use the advanced filter to get the exact product because here the search criteria is based on specific fields.
