3084092 - Not able to complete migration due to "Product Category Hierarchy With Errors" information

Symptom

 A migration of Product Category Hierarchy fails with unspecific error.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Access the Overview work center view.
  3. Find and open the fine-tuning activity Product Category Hierarchy.
  4. Click the link to Migrate product category hierarchy using the migration tool.
  5. Upload a migration template.
  6. Select Migrate Step by Step.
  7. At Simulation step, find info: Product Category Hierarchy With Errors. 

Cause

In the migration template, at least one record contains identical values for both the Product Category ID and the Parent Product Category ID, which is not permitted.

  • Hierarchy field contains: Root.
  • Product Category ID field contains: ABC (where ABC represents an ID).
  • Parent Product Category ID field also contains: ABC.

This configuration is invalid. The Product Category ID and Parent Product Category ID must be different to maintain a valid category hierarchy.

Resolution

Correct the template. The migration will complete successfully.
