3087809 - Overhead Distribution Rule Warning: 'No values available for sender XXX in rule YYY'

You have set up a distribution rule with distribution factor as Fixed and Sender and Receiver Project/Project Task. However, when executing an overhead distribution run, the project task defined as Sender in the distribution rule has a warning under the Not Processed tab.

1. Go to Cost and Revenue work center.
2. Go to Overhead Distribution view.
3. Open the related overhead distribution run.
4. Go to Not Processed tab.

For distribution rule YYY, the following warning message is raised: No values available for sender XXX in rule YYY (YYY - distribution rule ID; XXX sender project/project task ID). However, when you check the Projects - Line items report, you see that there are postings towards the project.

The distribution rule has sender as the project header, however the costs are incurred in the project tasks. Currently there are no postings towards the project header itself as a task.

As per the standard design of the system, overhead distribution run for projects works when the corresponding rule has actual project task (on which cost is incurred) as sender. This is a right behavior as well, because in ByD project header is also considered as a task, so that user can distinguish the cost incurred on header from the cost incurred on its corresponding tasks.

In the Projects - Line Items report, you can bring the Project Task characteristic and check what project tasks are assigned to each posting.

You need to set up the Distribution Rule with Sender as the project task that has the costs incurred. If you want to distribute costs from further tasks from this project, the corresponding tasks needs to be set up as Sender in the distribution rule.

If you create a distribution rule with the project header as sender, only the costs incurred in the project header as task are distributed.
