Symptom
When editing a Recruiting XML via Manage Templates, the system will throw a validation error when saving the changes "A required field. Please select an option.".
Here's an example:
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Manage Templates > Recruiting Management
- Select the affected Recruiting template
- Click on "Fields defined. Click to modify."
- Save it
Cause
The field is either a custom field being set as custom="false" or the field is a standard field from another Recruiting Template, for example, a standard field from the Job Requisition being defined in the Job Application.
Resolution
Users are not able to create custom fields or standard fields from another templates as custom="false" via Manage Templates however, through Provisioning, the system won't prevent the user from defining the field, although a warning message is displayed, such as this:
In this example, "currency" is a standard field from the Job Requisition and is being defined in the Job Application.
Manage Templates won't let the user to save the changes until the misconfiguration is fixed.
Please contact your partner/implementation team to review the template configuration and define the fields according to the RCM Guide.
