3089925 - An Error Occurred When Selecting a Cost Center in the Organizational Assignments of a Lease Contract

You have created a new lease contract and when you specify the organizational assignment, a system crash is raised.

SAP Business ByDesign.

1. Go to Lease Contract Management work center.
2. Go to Lease Contracts view.
3. Open the relevant lease contract.
4. Go to Leased Object tab and click Organizational Assignments.
5. Add Row.
6. Open the Cost Center value help.
7. Select cost center you wish to assign.

Upon selecting the cost center, an exception is raised.

One of the possible causes for this to happen may be related to the way that the organizational hierarchy is set up. In this example, the selected Org. Unit is defined as Cost Center as well as a Segment, however its profit center is an Org. Unit higher in the hierarchy. With regard to financial reporting, the Segment is usually the top most in the hierarchy. Therefore, in this case, the system is not able to derive the profit center and hence the error happens.

Upon activating the Org. Unit, the system would also raise the following warning for this set up: 'cost center <cost center ID> must be below a profit center. Check that a profit center exists in the structure above and that there are no segments between the cost center and this profit center'

In the Organizational Management work center, you can run a Check in the corresponding Org. Unit and see if there are warnings being raised.

Given the illustrated scenario, you need to adjust the Org. Unit's definitions so that a profit center can be derived from the selected cost center and considering that a segment is the top node of a profit center hierarchy.
