Symptom

  • A connection from an application to ASE fails with a message that password encryption is not set.
  • Examples of messages returned include:

    • Msg 1640, Level 16, State 1:
      Adaptive Server requires encryption of the login password on the network.

    • Error: Unable to communicate with host [<ipaddress>] on port [1234]: Adaptive Server requires encryption of the login password on the network.
