3090324 - SSL configuration fails with error 1637 and "csi_verifyidentityfile" message - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE server not starting after SSL setup
  • Messages in the ASE errorlog include :

Loaded encryption provider CSI-2.10M16-linuxamd64-2019/02/27 17:54:25 PST-sybcsi_openssl-OpenSSL 1.0.2q-fips 20 Nov 2018.

csi_verifyidentityfile: sybcsi_x509_list_validate: csiresult: 3
certificate: /syb/ASE_157/ASE-15_0/certificates/my_cert.crt
The server certificate signature is invalid.
All attempts to load certificate files for SSL local identity have failed, ASE is unable to establish any SSL connections.
Error: 1637, Severity: 16, State: 2
Could not initialize SSL master context.
Cannot allocate resources for listener with protocol ssltcp, host xxxxxx
