3094124 - sp_shrink does not recognize when the server is in single user mode - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Issues to reduce data from sybsecurity database.
  • Customer is using flat file devices. Data and log are separated
  • Customer wants to know how to free data from their sybsecurity databases.
  • Customer try to run sp_shrink with ASE started in single user(-m) and get error:
    • DBCC: checking database 'sybsecurity'.
      DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact a user with
      System Administrator (SA) role.
      Msg 17435, Level 16, State 1:
      Server 'xxxx', Procedure 'sp_dboption', Line 849:
      The 'single user' option is not valid for the 'sybsecurity' database.
      (return status = 1)
