3094596 - Project Baseline doesn't go for approval process upon releasing of the project

Symptom

You have configured project baseline approval process in the system.

You find the project baseline doesn't go for approval process upon releasing of the project. Instead, approval can only be triggered when you change the value for the released project.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Project Management Work Center.
  2. Choose Change Management view.
  3. Choose Project ABC (ABC represents for the project ID) which you just released.
  4. View or Edit the required baseline ID of project ABC.
  5. You find the baseline status is already active and it doesn't go for approval after you release the project, although you have configured project baseline approval process in the system.

Cause

You have not configured mandatory baseline approval for the certain project type.

Resolution

The trigger for the default requirement of the baseline can be found in Business Configuration -> Overview -> Project Types.

On the right hand side for each project type, you can define if the baseline approval is mandatory.

If the mandatory box is checked for the certain project type here, this will trigger the baseline to go for approval on the first save , prior to the release of the project.
