When insert data source in Analysis Office, exception below occurs.

This issue may occur only on one PC and cannot be reproduced on other PCs.

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

1. Open AO;
2. Select any query as data source;
3. AO trace log file (see SAP Note 2129389) contains the following error:

Invalid program status\: RFC call BICS_PROV_OPEN returned an exception: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: Element E_QUERY_DOC_APPL_ID of container metadata BICS_PROV_OPEN unknown

The issue might be caused by a corrupted cache file of the BW system in client machine.

Delete the metadata cache for the affected user as per below steps:

1. On the affected PC, please open the Windows File Explorer.
2. Navigate to the following path: %APPDATA%\SAP AG\SAP BusinessObjects Advanced Analysis\cache
   *There, you will find a list of all cached systems.
3. Delete the file for the system to which the user is not able to connect to.
4. Open Analysis for Office and test the user scenario again.

The AO 2.8.16 or higher version already identify if the cache file is outdated, delete it automatically and ask the user to reopen the AO Add-In. This new behavior is documented in the SAP Note 3255878.
