3097005 - "unknown error occurred during validation" when importing content for existing Item

When an admin is attempting to import content for an existing Item the following error is generated:

          unknown error occurred during validation

2. Select content you wish to import
3. Select Server Location and the existing Item

Missing permission in the role associated with the Admin

The reason why the Admin is getting the "unknown error occurred during validation" is because the role is missing the Add Item permission. To solve this issue, please follow these steps:

1. Go to System Administration > Security > Role Management
2. Search for Role ID in question
3. Click the edit icon
4. Go to Permissions tab
5. Click add one or more from list
6. Click the + sign next to Learning Activities
7. Put a check on Add Item
8. Click Add

Now when the Admin attempts to import the content now to an existing Item it should work successfully.

There's no way for us to resolve the error unless you include the Add Item permission. The permission is required in order for the system to include the Item when adding a content for an existing Item using the Import Content Tool. 

If you don't want to give access to an Admin to a create a new Item then another option for them is to upload the content first by going to Content > Import Content > Add New Content. 

Once the Content Object is created then they need to go to the Item itself. Under Online Content in the Root content type choose Add Content Object. Now click the search button and add the Content Object that was created.
