Symptom
There are 2 features to confirm the candidate profile creation: One-Time Password and the Career Site Activation Email. What is the difference of these features?
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Resolution
Both features, as mentioned in the symptom, have the purpose of confirming the identity and the email address of the candidate. In terms of usability, the difference between One-Time Password and the Activation Email is that:
- Through the One-Time password the candidate will receive a password to the email address they have added to validate the email address in use. They have 10 minutes to do that. The specific detail that explains about this feature is: 2979350 - One-Time Password Email Verification (OTP) - Recruiting Management
- On the other hand, the Email Activation process is to enable the account by clicking on the link to validate the email. The recruiting email trigger is "Career Site Email Notification". The details are in this page of the guide: Enabling Email Verification for Candidate Account Simplification.
Both processes are to verify if the account is valid, but the difference between them are the methods used: one is through a password received through the email and the other is a URL to click on it.
They can't co-exist, so if you have both, One-Time Password will be the method being applied and valid for candidates to confirm their account.
