3102930 - Target not found error on the oView in custom UI5 applications generated in BAS

Symptom

  • In Business Application Studio (BAS), custom apps run correctly and also run as standalone UI5 applications correctly. 
  • Once deployed to the launchpad the application hangs with an ellipse loading on the screen.  This appears over a  "Target not found" message.
  • The console log reports Cannot load properties of undefined on the Oview (UI5 versions <= 1.88).
  • Or the console log reports Cannot load properties of undefined on the getMetadata  (UI5 versions >= 1.89).
