3103041 - Description Field Is Grayed Out in the Project

The Project ABC or Project Task ABC-X description field appears grayed out, preventing any changes from being made (ABC represents Project ID and X represents Projects task ID).

SAP Business ByDesign.

1. Go to Project Management work center.
2. Go to Projects view.
3. Select All Projects.
4. Search for ABC.
5. Select on edit.
6. Go to Project Plan tab.
7. Go to Gantt Chart sub-tab.
8. Select Project header.
9. Go to Basic Data tab.

The Description field is grayed out. No changes can be made.

The Description field is grayed out because the project status is Closed, Stopped, or Completed, and preventing any changes to the description. This is applicable to Project task description field also.

 To make changes to the description field, please follow the steps below for status wise:

1) For Closed project:

1. Open Project ABC.
2. Select Project header.
3. Select Revoke Closure in the dropdown of status field.
4. Again select Revoke Completion.
5. Change the description.
6. Select Complete and Close in the dropdown of status field.
7. Save the project.

2) For Stopped Project:

1. Open Project ABC.
2. Select Project header.
3. Select Revoke Stopping in the dropdown of status field.
4. Change the description.
5. Select Stop in the dropdown of status field.
6. Save the project.

3) For Completed Project:

1. Open Project ABC.
2. Select Project header.
3. Select Revoke Completion in the dropdown of status field.
4. Change the description.
5. Select Complete in the dropdown of status field.
6. Save the project.
