3103523 - Error: "Country/Region Key (LFA1-LAND1) is a required entry field" While Extending the Business Partner to Supplier Role

Symptom

Upon trying to to extend the Business Partner of the Employee Role BUP003 to the Supplier Role FLVN01 and FLVN00, system throws an error:

Country/Region Key (LFA1-LAND1) is a required entry field

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the app Manage Business Partner Master Data
  2. Search for the Business Partner ID XYZ (where XYZ represents the Business Partner)
  3. Select Go
  4. Open the Business Partner data
  5. Go to the Roles tab
  6. Select the button Create 
  7. Add new Role: FLVN01
  8. Go to the tab Company Codes
  9. Select the button Create
  10. Add a Company Code
  11. Provide the Reconciliation Account, Payment Terms, Payment Methods, Check Double Invoice and other required data
  12. Select Apply
  13. Go to the Roles tab
  14. Select the button Create 
  15. Add new Role: FLVN00
  16. Go to the tab Purchasing Organizations
  17. Select the button Create
  18. Add a new Purchasing Organization
  19. Select the button Apply
  20. Select Save
  21. System throws the error

 

Cause

In the Address tab, there is no valid address usage maintained for the Business Partner XYZ. 

Resolution

In the Address tab, extend the validity of the existing address of the Business Partner XYZ and thereafter extend the Business Partner XYZ to the Supplier Role.
