Symptom

  • ASE is has been configured to use "lock shared memory" which includes setting 'setcap' to the dataserver binary.
  • When executing xp_cmdshell, it reports an error:
    1> xp_cmdshell pwd
    2> go
    Can't load xpsmsgs.so DLL for messaging. Exiting application ...
