3105855 - Error when editing the Candidate Profile Template Background Element Instruction "has exceeded its maximum allowed character limit of 1,024"- Recruiting Management

When trying to add an instruction to the background element, an error is thrown when saving the template both through Provisioning or Manage Templates:

Error: The field instruction in background element [Background Element ID] has exceeded its maximum allowed character limit of 1,024 with [NUMBER OR CHARACTERS] characters.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

Through Manage Templates:

1. Log into the instance
2. Navigate to Admin Center
3. Open Manage Templates > Recruiting Management
4. Open the Candidate Profile Template
5. Expand General Settings
6. Click on Data Field Background Element
7. On the instruction of the background element, add text
   
   
   
   
8. Click on Publish
9. Receive the error: Error: The field instruction in background element [Background Element ID] has exceeded its maximum allowed character limit of 1,024 with [NUMBER OR CHARACTERS] characters.

OR

Through Provisioning:

1. Log into Provisioning
2. Navigate to Edit Candidate Profile Template
3. Add the instruction part as part of the XML or edit it
4. Click on Save
5. Receive the error: Error: The field instruction in background element [Background Element ID] has exceeded its maximum allowed character limit of 1,024 with [NUMBER OR CHARACTERS] characters.

This field can only store 1024 characters in the data base. If HTML tags are added into this field, it also counts to the number of characters in use as the characters are also stored in the data base entry for this field.

As of now, this is the number of characters that the system stores is 1024 characters for the instruction field for background elements. This is a system expected behavior.
