Symptom

  • SWPM failed with DB connection error message or SAP system could not be started after kernel update
  • R3trans shows the following error message
    4 ETW000  [     dev trc,00000]  Can't run UNICODE-DbSl against non-UNICODE database
    4 ETW000  [     dev trc,00000]  CheckCodepageType failed. Connect terminated.
    2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = MSSQL    ---  SERVER = 'hostname' DBNAME = 'SID'"
