Symptom
You executed an actual cost allocation run and you expect it to revaluate the inventories for a specific material. However, no postings occurred and the material is displayed under the Not Processed tab.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Inventory Valuation work center.
- Go to Actual Cost Allocation view.
- Open the affected run.
- Go to Not Processed tab.
See that a material is listed as not processed, whereas you expect the run to allocate the costs accordingly.
Cause
The Actual Cost Allocation Runs revaluate the inventories based on the difference between the preliminary postings to inventory or cost of goods sold and the actual costs calculated by actual cost rollup runs. If you check the figures calculated by the rollup runs, you see that there is no difference identified, hence no postings are made by the allocation run.
You can verify this as follows:
- Go to Inventory Valuation work center.
- Material Actual Costing view.
- Search for the respective material and business residence.
- Refer to the entries that have a Valid From that covers the accounting period/year selected in the allocation run.
- Click Edit.
Once you open the material actual costing, you see that the Variance column is 0,00.
You can also refer to the Allocation tab and see that Preliminary Amount is the same as the Cosing Result. Therefore, there would be no cost allocation for the allocation run to process.
Resolution
This is the expected system behavior. For more details, you may refer to help documents Actual Cost Allocation Runs and Actual Cost Rollup.
