3108657 - Files with Chinese/Thai/Cyrillic etc. characters in the file name cannot be uploaded in SAP system

Symptom

  • Filenames with Chinese/Thai/Cyrillic etc. characters cannot be uploaded in the SAP system.
  • Other languages which use Latin characters can have issues with special characters, e.g. Polish language.
  • The characters are seen as hash signs, i.e. #####
  • The Exception for function module SCMS_DOC_CREATE_FILES is 2 = BAD_REQUEST Unknown Functions or Parameters
  • Checking the SLG1 log for the User that has the issue the following entries will be seen:
