3108772 - Error When Uploading Target Group Member via Data Workbench


You are trying to upload Target Group Members via Data Workbench, however are facing errors:

  • Member already exists in Target Group.
  • You can't add the member, because account XXXXX (XXXXX) doesn't exist. (The XXXXX represents the Customer/Account ID and name)
  • Unprocessed record; Re-import.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Data Workbench workcenter.
  2. Go to Import view.
  3. Choose Individual Object.
  4. Select Insert.
  5. Select Standard Object.
  6. Search for Target group Member in the list.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Upload the file.
  9. Go to Monitor view to see the results.
  10. The uploaded file contains errors.


  • Member already exists in Target Group.
    As the error suggests, this error is thrown when a duplicate member is attempted to be added to the same customer.

  • You can't add the member, because account XXXX (XXXXX) doesn't exist.
    This error is thrown because the system cannot find the mentioned customer ID.

  • Unprocessed record; Re-import.
    All the target group member that are belonging to same target group (Target_Group_ID) are saved together. In case there is error for any one record the other entries are also not saved.
    In this cases there will be ideally an entry having a valid error that has to be corrected and the file can be reimported.


  1. Review the uploaded file to:
    - Not create duplicate member in the same Account.
    - Use an existing customer ID.
    - Do not have any record with error (no one).
  2. Perform the corrections in the csv file.
  3. Upload it again. (in case of doubt use the simulation mode to validate if there are errors)
