Symptom

  • A query using previous cached parallel plan with variable returned wrong results.
    • Parallelism is on server wide.
    • The query or statement has a search clause with variable or parameter.
    • The query plan uses previous cached parallel plan which has merge join operator.
  • This may affect:
    • Ad-hoc query having constant in search clause when 'statement cache size' > 0 and ‘literal autoparam’ = 1.
    • Query inside a procedure or trigger.
