3115958 - MRP creates redundant proposals though there are fixed future receipts which can cover the requirements

Symptom

A new proposal (planned order, purchase requisition, schedule line etc.) is created to meet the requirement after running MRP though a fixed future receipt element exists already (firmed planned order, firmed purchase requisition, firmed schedule line, production order, purchase order etc.) at the date later than the requirement on the time axis.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. A fixed future receipt element exists which can meet the requirement at the date later than the requirement on the time axis.
  2. Run MRP
  3. A new proposal like planned order, purchase requisition, schedule line is created by MRP redundantly at the date earlier than the fixed receipt.

Cause

The fixed future receipt lies out side of the rescheduling horizon or it is not selected for rescheduling.

It is only considered for rescheduling when it lies inside the rescheduling horizon and it is selected to be considered for rescheduling in the configuration.

- The rescheduling horizon is the sum of the days below for external procurement and in-house production.

  • External procurement.
    - Purchasing processing time. (Maintained in the SSCUI 102156 , working days.)
    - Planned delivery time.         (Maintained in the material master, calendar days.)
    - GR processing time.            (Maintained in the material master, working days.)
    - Rescheduling horizon days.  (Maintained in the SSCUI 102658 , working days.)

  • In-house production.
    - In-house production time.  (Maintained in the material master, working days.)
    - GR processing time.          (Maintained in the material master, working days.)
    - Rescheduling horizon days.  (Maintained in the SSCUI 102658 , working days.)

- The customization for which fixed future receipt elements can be selected for rescheduling is maintained in the same SSCUI 102658 .

The MRP calculates the rescheduling horizon as following:
Current date  + Purchase processing time  + Planning delivery time  + GR processing time  + Rescheduling horizon days.
Please note that the calculation starts from current date instead of the date of requirement.

Resolution

Maintain the rescheduling horizon days longer enough to cover the existing fixed future receipt (e.g. purchase order), then run MRP again.
