Symptom

The Product Specification for Item in a Sales Order is not mandatory even though the Product has the Identified Stock Type is 04 - Mandatory Specified Stock maintained in the Product Master Data.

Environment

 SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

Go to the Product and Service Portfolio work center.

Select the Products view.

Open Product ABC (ABC represents the ID of the Product).

In the General tab you can see that the Identified Stock Type is 04 - Mandatory Specified Stock.

 

Go to the Sales Orders work center.

Select the Sales Orders view.

Open Sales Order XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the Sales Order).

Navigate to the items tab

Select Line Item XX (XX represents the line item for product ABC).

You can see that for ABD in the General sub tab the Product Specification is not maintained and the field is not mandatory.

Cause

The Product Specification is visible for the Item in the Sales Order if the Identified Stock Type is either 03 - Optional Specified Stock or 04 - Mandatory Specified Stock.

However, the system will not enforce the entering of Product Specification in the Sales Order. The enforcement of the Product Specification with the Identified Stock Type "04 - Mandatory Specified Stock" is only relevant in Logistics processes.

The field is not set as a mandatory field and has to be maintained manually.

Resolution

This is the current system behavior.
