3121204 - Visit: Send Summary Selection Of Attendees

Symptom

When selecting attendees and adding new ones on a visit, the selection changes after adding and those selected are not the ones you expect.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Visits work centre view
  2. Open any visit with more than one attendee
  3. Go to the Attendees facet

NOTE: there is one standard selection column visible with no title - this is the standard UI selection column available throughout the system

  1. Add any amount of attendees
  2. Save
  3. Click Actions > Generate a summary

NOTE: once the summary has been generated, a new column appears, with column description 'Select'. This is a standard column.

The new column, 'Select' can only be edited in edit mode - any selection made to it in edit mode, stays.

However, the first column, allows you to edit even out of edit mode.

When you now add a new attendee to the list, the original column will de-select any previous entries.

The column 'select', however, will keep the entries until you go to edit mode and change it.

Your issue is that the business user presumes, that the selection made in the original column (editable without entering edit mode) will be the active selection for sending the summary - but it is not - the other column is the active selection.

Cause

The first column is the standard UI-selection checkbox. This is modeled in the same way throughout the system, in most views and sections.

When a list gets changed because you add a new entry, that last newly added item is the one that is actively selected. When you make a change to the list, the previous selection gets de-selected: an active change to the list was made and the list is no longer the same as before.

The column 'Select' is used to decide on the active selection of list items to execute the 'send summary'.

We cannot control the 'send summary' action from the 'standard' UI checkbox.

  • We do not control the 'send summary' action from the 'standard' UI-selection checkbox.
  • 'Send summary' only becomes active once the summary was generated > therefore, the selection column for it only becomes visible/ active at that point, too.
  • The column 'Select', which appears only after the summary was generated, decides on the active selection for the action 'send summary'.

Resolution

This is the expected system behaviour by design.
