3122296 - Analyze high CA block usage scenario with kernel snapshot analyzer

Symptom

System-wide problems might happen if there is a high usage of the communication blocks (CA blocks, rdisp/wp_ca_blk_no). This KBA provides friendly tips and action plan items to analyze the high usage of CA blocks with kernel snapshot analyzer (KBA 2640476). Please also check the central KBA 3110588 for more scenarios supported by kernel snapshot analyzer.


This high CA block usage symptom can be identified if the following warning is shown in SM50

  • Resources exhausted    Reason: Many (warn limit exceeded) CA blocks in use (99.000 %)

or one of the following traces is shown in dispatcher trace (dev_disp*).

  • *** ERROR => DpCaBufAlloc: DpCaLockBlk [dpxxca.c 560]
    *** WARNING => DpResourcesOk: too many ca blocks (2000) in use [dpxxtool2.c 7853]
    DpSendLoadInfo: Resources exhausted

  • *** WARNING => DpResourcesOk: Too many (reject limit exceeded) CA blocks in use (99.130 %)

  • DpResourcesOk: Many (suspend dispatching limit exceeded) CA blocks in use (86.480 %)

  • ********** SERVER SNAPSHOT 8 (Reason: Many (warn limit exceeded) CA blocks in use (95.500 %) / Time: Tue May 11 12:32:18 2021) - begin **********
    High load reason = Many (warn limit exceeded) CA blocks in use (95.500 %)
