3123912 - Internal Server Error When Releasing Lease Contract When Working With Customized Fiscal Year Variant

Symptom

Your company's set of books is assigned to a customized fiscal year variant.
In a new Leasing Contract you assign a Free Cost Object.
After the successful validation you press Release but a 500 SAP Internal Server Error appears.

Reproducing the Issue

In the Lease Contract Management work center go to the Lease Contract view.
Create a new Lease Contract maintaining all the mandatory and relevant data.
Press Save.
Press Actions and Choose Valuate.
Press Release.
This time the 500 SAP Internal Server Error appears.

Cause

When using customized fiscal year variants all accounting periods of the whole life time of a lease contract must be available according to the IFRS16 requirements.

If not all accounting periods until the end period of the lease contract's life time are maintained the 500 internal error appears.

Resolution

We are working on improving error messages of this kind to display a meaningful rather than a cryptic error message.

In the meantime, add the missing accounting periods to the customized fiscal year variant:

Example: Lease Contract ABC ends on 31.12.2025, in period 012.2025.

Go to the Business Configuration work center and access the Other Fiscal Year Fine Tune task.
Go to the Period Details tab.
Enter all periods until period 012.2025.
Navigate to the Period Control for Fixed Assets tab and also maintain all the periods here until 012.2025.

Once saved you should be able to release the lease contract.
