3126175 - Two Inbound Delivery Notifications with Same ID

You find that two inbound delivery notifications (IDN) have the same ID and that they correspond to different documents.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Inbound Logistics Work Center.
2. Navigate to Inbound Delivery Notifications View.
3. Search for IDN XXX.

You will find two Inbound Delivery Notifications with same ID XXX.

It is a coincidence that the intercompany Outbound Delivery (OD) ID already has an IDN created in the system with the same ID.

This is limitation in the system and can be reproduced in the following steps,

1. Create an intercompany scenario，e.g. an internal sales order after a purchase order.
2. Process the Sales Order to OD but do not release it.
3. Create a standard Purchase Order.
4. Create an IDN from the standard Purchase Order with the same ID as the intercompany OD ID.
5. Release intercompany OD.

This will create a second IDN with the same ID as in an intercompany scenario, the IDN is create with the same ID as the intercompany OD.

In terms of existing issue, it's a good way that roll back the intercompany scenario and cancel the OD and create a new one.

Two ways to prevent this from happening in the future.

1. Set up number formatting for the companies used in intercompany scenario, this would add a prefix to the OD automatically created. Meaning, there would be no previous IDN with the same ID. OD number formatting can be done in the Business Configuration setting "Document Numbering Formats for Outbound Delivery". How to configure it is detailed in the Configuration: Document Numbering Formats for Outbound Delivery.
   
2. Add a prefix to the notification ID when creating an IDN for Purchase Order manually.
