3126496 - sapsso cannot unlock sa login - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • exec sp_locklogin sa, 'unlock' raises message:
    You must have the following permission to execute this command/procedure:
    'manage any login'.
  • sp_displaylogin sapsso  output shows that sapsso is assigned the sso_role
    • 'Granular Permissions' is not enabled.
    • The user then enables 'Granular Permissions' and then tries to issue 'manage any login' permission:
      grant manage any login to sapsso
      go
      Msg 16325, Level 15, State 43:
      Server '<SID>', Line 1:
      Cannot GRANT/REVOKE permission 'MANAGE ANY LOGIN'. Verify that the
      granular permissions option is enabled.
