Error AB720 - Enter a depreciation key with 'depreciation by days' such as XXXX - may be issued when trying to change a depreciation key in the asset master.

The depreciation keys either have daily depreciation calculation or not-daily depreciation calculation.

When creating the Asset master data it is possible to choose any depreciation key, however upon saving the technical field 'XDAILY' will either be active or inactive for the depreciation area in the database. This field is not editable afterwards, meaning:

• If an asset is activated with daily depreciation it cannot be changed if there are closed fiscal years within the asset's useful life.
• If an asset is activated with no daily depreciation it cannot be changed if there are closed fiscal years within the asset's useful life.

It is the expected system design.

Choose a depreciation key that uses daily depreciation if the asset was already used in the previous fiscal year(s).
