3128061 - Styles not working when using Excel's protection mechanism

Symptom

After protecting a sheet (e.g. Sheet1) using Excel's standard protection mechanism and trying to add a data source in a different sheet (e.g. Sheet2), the crosstab is inserted without styles.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Start AO;

  2. Protect Sheet1 using Excel's standard protection mechanism;

  3. Insert a new sheet (e.g. Sheet2);

  4. Insert a data source in the new sheet;

  5. Confirm the crosstab will be added without styles.

Cause

This is not a bug in the tool. As soon as there is an Excel sheet protected, it is no longer possible to change AO or Excel styles.

Resolution

When protecting worksheets or workbooks, use the AO protection mechanism as shown below (refer to chapter "To protect a workbook or worksheet"):
