3129015 - E-Verify only accepts uppercase and lower case alphabetic characters, apostrophes, and hyphens

Symptom

  • If a new hire enters a name that has special characters, E-Verify will reject the case
  • E-Verify only accepts uppercase and lower case alphabetic characters, apostrophes, and hyphens
  • An exception is thrown:
     {"errors":[{"error_code":"ATTRIBUTE_FORMAT","attribute_name":"last_name","message":"Invalid value for \"last_name\", must conform to the pattern /^[a-zA-Z''\\- ]*$/.","value":"Example ñame"}]}

Resolution

Product Engineering is aware of the issue and working to resolve it under OBX-19883

Workaround:

You can use Knowledge Base Article (KBA) 2691521 to create a rule that raises an error message when special characters are entered in a field
