3129138 - ORA-01406: fetched column value was truncated

When accessing a remote Oracle database table through SAP HANA Smart Data Access (SDA), metadata retrieval may fail for a specific table.

During virtual table creation or remote object access, no fields are retrieved and the following error is reported:

invalid remote object name: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01406:fetched column value was truncated

The following message may be found in the indexserver trace:

ODBC error: connected: 1 state: HY000 code: 1406
