3133901 - Metadata for issuer https://<IAS_tenantID>.accounts.ondemand.com wasn't found: SAP BTP error

When logging onto SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP. URL: https://cockpit.btp.cloud.sap) Cloud Foundry with Identity Authentication Service (IAS) tenant as Identity Provider (either directly or proxy to a Corporate Identity Provider) the end user receives the below error:
