3135666 - Error "401 unauthorized" with "Access denied" when accessing documents on content repository on SAP System Database due to System PSE changed

Symptom

  • Error "401 unauthorized" with detail message "Access denied" ("Zugriff verweigert" in German).
  • The involved content repository is on SAP System Database.
  • Same error may happen in testing by report RSCMST, RSCMSTH0, etc.
  • The error may occurred after the System PSE is changed.

  • No error occurred in transaction CSADMIN>open the content repository.
  • The username and password is maintained in ICF service or external alias "/sap/bc/contentserver" is correct and not locked. The 401 error was not caused by the logon issue of the ICF service or external alias.
    This can be verified by transaction CSADMIN>open the content repository. If there is logon popup, it means logon issue of "/sap/bc/contentserver", but not the sigunature error which is focused in this KBA. And, regarding the logon issue of "/sap/bc/contentserver", please check the resolution part in KBA 3054157.
