Symptom

  • Concurrent BCP a large amount of data into an objects.
  • The object's image column was placed on it's own segment.
  • The following messages repeated in errorlog for any client that perform DML on the object.

    The segment free page count on segment 5 in database 'db' (25) was found to be negative (-1944887312) after a change of 16 and has been set to 0.
    The segment free page count on segment 5 in database 'db' (25) was found to be negative (-16) after a change of 16 and has been set to 0.
    The segment free page count on segment 5 in database 'db' (25) was found to be negative (-7) after a change of 7 and has been set to 0
