Symptom
Daylight Saver Time Zone such as Australian Eastern Daylight time (AEDT) is not updated in C4C and Business ByDesign.
Environment
- SAP Cloud for Customer
- SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- SAP Cloud for Customer:
- Go to Settings > My Settings > Time Zone.
- You can see that this is set for UTC+10:00 Australia Victoria Time.
- However, Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) is UTC +11 so you expect C4C to show UTC +11.
- SAP Business ByDesign:
- Go to Business Configuration > Overview > Implementation Projects > Open Activity List.
- Find and configure the activity : Time Zone Maintenance.
- You can see this is set for (UTC+10:00) AU New South Wales Time.
- However, Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) is UTC +11 so you expect the SAP Business ByDesign to show UTC +11.
Cause
The time zone dropdown at user settings and business configuration shows a fixed list.
Resolution
As this is a fixed list, the time zones descriptions are not adapted during daylight saving time. Hence the name of the time zone always remains "(UTC+10:00) Australia Victoria Time".
The additional hour during daylight saving time in this region is added automatically without changing the description. It's a usual convention to denote the difference in hours to UTC followed by a list of regions, cities, or countries. This list of regions then defines the corresponding daylight saving for this time zone.
Note: The same concept is for example also used by Microsoft Outlook. When you open the calendar settings for Outlook, the time zone dropdown shows an entry "(UTC+10:00) Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney". Here the description also does not change during daylight saving time.
