3144872 - Unable to Find a Material When Adding New Input Product for a Bill of Material

When trying to add a material as a new input product for a Bill of Material, you cannot find this material through search.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to work center Planning and Production Master Data.
2. Go to view Production Bills Of Material.
3. Open any BOM, click Edit.
4. Under tab Input Products, click button Add Row.
5. In the new row, click the selection button on the field Product.
6. In the pop-up window, search for product ABC, no result.
7. In the new row, enter ABC, press Enter button on your keyboard, there is a warning "Active assignment of supply planning area for product ABC does not exist".

No active planning area has been maintained in the master data of material ABC.

Follow below steps to add active planning area for material ABC:

1. Go to work center Product Portfolio.
2. Go to view Products - By Materials.
3. Search material ABC, click Edit, click View All.
4. Select tab Planning, add a new planning area and maintain all mandatary fields.
5. Change the status of planning area to Active.
6. Click button Save.

After that, you can find material ABC as an option of input product in BOM.
