3150110 - CREATE TABLE...AS SELECT statement receives SQLCODE=-131 syntax error

Symptom

In SAP IQ 16.1 SP04 PL06 or higher, CREATE TABLE...AS SELECT statement receives SQLCODE=-131 syntax error:

create table GROUPO.Departments2 as (select * from GROUPO.Departments)
Could not execute statement.
Syntax error near 'AS' on line 1
SQLCODE=-131, ODBC 3 State="42000"
