3150124 - Parent-child Picklist Relationship Not Working in Offer Approval Page - Recruiting Management

Symptom

  • In your Offer Approval page, you have two Picklist Fields and they are associated with each other through the parent-child relationship. Both Picklist Fields are also configured in another form, for example Job Requisition, and you are expecting to have the same values automatically selected in the Offer Approval page but only the Parent Picklist Field is pre-populated, not the Child One.
  • The Child Picklist Field is also not showing any options in the dropdown, regardless if the Parent Picklist Field has a valid value selected.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

Reproducing the Issue

This is one of the possible scenarios:

In the Job Requisition page:

  1. Selected the Parent Picklist Field value, which can be for an example, the Country field;
  2. Now you can select the Child Picklist Field, which can be for an example, the State field;

In the Offer Approval page:

Since you have the mapping between the Job Requisition and the Offer Approval for these fields, you expects to see the same values automatically populated when raising the Offer Approval.

  1. Go to the Offer Approval;
  2. Notice the Parent Picklist Field is automatically populated;
  3. However, the Child Picklist Field is not populated, and it's even possible to select a value, because the field doesn't show any option.

Cause

The issue will occur when there are two or more Parent Picklist Fields using the same Picklist ID. In this situation, the system cannot perform the associations correctly between the Parent-child relationships.

Make sure to validate if in the Offer Approval template there's more than one Picklist Field using the same Picklist ID and both are Parent Picklist Fields.

Resolution

This issue has already been addressed to Software Engineering team and they have targeted the H1 2022 release to have the behavior fixed.

At this moment, the only workaround would be having just one Parent Picklist Field in the Offer Approval, using the Picklist ID in question.
