Symptom
When you create a sales document with reference to another sales document, the changes of the address of the ship-to party are taken over into the original document if the address of the original document has been changed before (that is, if it’s no longer the address that the system automatically derives from master data).
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a sales document and change the address so that it becomes a document-specific address. Then save the document.
- In a document created with reference to the first document, change the address again.
- You can now see that both documents have the same address: the one you changed in step 2.
Cause
This is standard design.
Resolution
Please choose the following method in order creation with reference in case address data was changed in the original document:
- In the Create Sales Orders (VA01) app, create a sales order and enter sold-to party in the order entry screen.
-> Sales document -> Create order with reference
Now you can change the address for the ship-to party at the header level.
You can also check the referenced document - the ship-to party address has not changed.
Note: At the item level, the ship-to party still shows the address of the original document. As a workaround, you can go to the item partner and re-enter the partner ID, then change the address information.
