3153204 - Formatting Not Correct Of Generated CSV Errors File In Data Workbench

Symptom

You imported some object using Data Workbench, but it generated some errors. When you download the errors file that is present in Monitor of Data Workbench (DWB) and open it in Excel it is unreadable, the formatting of data is all wrong.

Environment

SAP Cloud For Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Data Workbench work center.
  2. Open Monitor view.
  3. Check the Task of your import.
  4. In Errors column click on the number to download the CSV file.
  5. Open CSV file using Microsoft Excel.
  6. The formatting is all messed up.

Cause

Formatting of the errors file is inherited from the configuration of the imported file.

Resolution

You need to check the delimiter that was configured in the file you prepared for import and adjust it accordingly in your Microsoft Excel.

For example, if the original file had "Tab" (other examples would be comma, semi colon, etc.) as delimiter for columns, when the CSV error file is generated by SAP Cloud for Customer, you will have to open it in Microsoft Excel and set the delimiter of Text to Columns to "Tab", so that way the content is properly formatted.
