Resolution

Q:  What is a customer supposed to do regarding the migration? Is the entire migration implemented by SAP?

Basically, all is handled by SAP but customers need to pay attention to the following points:

  • IP address change: IP addresses will change, and customers need to check their network configurations (for example, firewall setting, IP Blocking). New IP addresses will be communicated in the 14-day customer communication.
  • Certificates: Certificate information will be sent out with the 14-day customer communication. For standard system access via browser no action is required. For integration scenarios a certificate update will be required to seamlessly access your system. A blog post with detailed instructions can be found here.
  • Transition timelines: Productive tenant transitions are taking place within the Maintenance Windows described in your SLA. Test tenants will be transitioned during the week (outside of working hours as much as possible as it will require a system downtime), and we have tried to account for other events (e.g., quarterly system upgrades schedules) to make the transition process as efficient as possible.

Q:  Where can customers check the planned migration date?

Customer will find that information in SAP for Me (me.sap.com). After accessing SAP for Me, customers need to select the Customer Dashboard option on the left side and choose the Systems & Provisioning dashboard and click on the Cloud Delivery tab.

Q:  How will customers be notified?

SAP will communicate and engage with all customers in the transition process via e-mail and SAP4ME. Notifications will be sent directly to all affected customers as further described below. E-mails are sent from “sapcloudsupport@alerts.ondemand.com” and the subject line of these e-mails will always start with “Next-Generation Cloud Delivery ...”.

Q:  Who will receive the notifications?

To receive notifications about the Next-Generation Cloud Delivery Program, customers need to be subscribed in Cloud System Notification Subscriptions (CSNS) to get SAP Business ByDesign notifications.

The currently maintained customer recipients are also listed in the monthly Customer Information Reports to allow customers to check if the correct recipients are maintained. It can be found in the “General Data” section à “Your current CSNS contacts”.

Check out the User Guide to learn how to subscribe yourself and others to notifications and how to change or delete subscriptions.

Q:  Will the migration to SAP Converged Cloud affect the function of the solution, the interface integration function, or the standard process of the system?

The functionality of the solution itself won’t be impacted. Also all standard processes and the interface integration function will work as before. If there is an integration using a hardcoded IP address this needs to be adjusted to the new IP address. Please also see comments regarding IP address change and certificates, above.

Q:  Will the URL be changed?

No, the URL will stay the same for existing tenants.

Q:  Will the IP address be changed?

Inbound/Outbound IPs will change; more details will be included in 14-day customer communication.

Q:  Is it possible to conduct a connectivity test in advance?

The system itself will only be transitioned at the planned date, so upfront integration tests can't be done. As the test tenants get migrated before the productive tenants this will allow testing in the test environment.

Q:  What needs to be done regarding certificates? And when?

Certificate information will be sent out with the 14-day customer communication. For standard system access via browser no action is required. For integration scenarios a certificate update will be required to seamlessly access your system. A blog post with detailed instructions can be found here.

Q:  When will the migration of the systems happen?

Only test systems will be migrated during weekdays. This will also happen during the non-business hours as far as possible. Production systems are planned to be migrated during the  Maintenance Window described in your SLA. The migration will require a downtime of the production system, which will take place during the Maintenance Window.

Q:  Is it possible to choose the target data center location (the country where the data center is located)?

No, it is not possible to choose the target data center. However, the new data center will be in the same country (sometimes the same location) as the previous data center.

Q: Will all tenants after the migration change its URL from myxxxxxx.sapbydesign.com to myxxxxxx.businessbydesign.cloud.sap ?

Yes, but for existing tenants Old URL is mapped to new URL and hence Old URL continues to work.

Q: Will  new tenants only have the new URL as converged cloud myxxxxxx.businessbydesign.cloud.sap?

       Yes

Q: If customer has tenants live as myxxxxxx.sapbydesign.com and request a new tenant and it comes as myxxxxxx.businessbydesign.cloud.sap may it affect integration or refresh scenario?

When a customer requests a new tenant , they receive it as myxxxyyy.businessbydesign.cloud.sap , so whatever changes they would have required to do with older domain would be needed and nothing extra.

Q: Is there any action required from customer regarding URLs?

No action is required from the customer regarding URLs
