Can I set a custom attribute for specific BPMN elements or Folders in SPM?

No, because custom attributes are always applied on all elements of the same type as they act as a filter (e.g. in searches for diagrams or in creating reports). A process based differentiation is not possible as this would imply every single element in all processes would be an object to be referenced too. This way of object consideration is not implemented.

Hence, the attribute should be generic but filled individually in case of a certain sub process fulfills this requirement. In Signavio Process Manager, we follow the approach that modelers can always see all information to a process as long as the user has access to the process. The visibility of included information cannot be restricted.

This is different in the Collaboration Hub, where the purpose is to view the processes. Hub Users can be assigned to certain groups which are allowed to see specific attributes only (e.g. department based).
