Symptom
Error "Could not get metadata" occurs when creating a new story.
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Reproducing the Issue
- Login to instance
- proceed to report center
- create new story
- drag any schema within the query
- Object is greyed out and produce the error "Could not get Metadata".
Cause
Metadata needs to be resynced.
Resolution
The issue is resolved with the following steps :
- Go to Provisioning and go to the affected company
- Search for Clear cache under MDF Cache Tool and then run it
- Next, run the job "MDF Object Definition To DB SYNC"
- After the job completes, run the "Save Changes To Report Configuration Object Job"
- After the job completes, proceed to configuration for People Analytics and run "Refresh SAC Live Connection"
- Once that completes, login to the system and check under Manage Data. Report Object Configuration Entity and Report Schema Configuration Entity should now be available along with their data.
Note: starting with 2H 2022 Release, customers have also the possibility to directly re-run "MDF Object Definition To DB SYNC " job from the Admin Center (prerequisite is that is was previously created at least once from Provisioning).
- On Admin Center, go to Scheduled Job Manager
- Click on the tab Job Scheduler
- On Job Type, select MDF Object Definition to DB Sync
- On Actions, you can click on Run it Now (you will need correct RBP permission, see below for the pre-requisite)
Note: Users can only directly run this job using "Run It Now" option, it is not possible to schedule this job to a future date.
RBP Pre-requisite
- This action is supported in Scheduled Job Manager, for the selected job type.
- You have the following permissions:
- Admin Center Permissions Monitor Scheduled Jobs
- Admin Center Permissions Manage Scheduled Jobs
