Symptom
Even with the user not being present in the approval role that is part of the approval process, the person can still see the pending approval.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- Approval process (e.g.: two steps approval: 1st step can be granted either by the user’s manager or by someone part of the approval role | 2nd step can only be granted by someone part of the approval role) >
- The Learning user requests the registration via the Learning user UI > The approval process is kicked off >
- The user’s manager approves it (1st approval process step done) >
- Now, one of the users able to perform the 2nd approval step, as being part of the approval role is removed from it >
- However, that user who was removed from the approval is still able to see the course is pending approval in the approval area and it is possible to fully perform the 2nd approval process step, even though the person is not part of the approval role anymore.
Cause
The above-mentioned scenario is the current system expected behavior.
After the user is removed from the approval role, this person would still be able to see pending approval request. When the requester initiated the approval process, the specific approver(s) was decided based on the approval role at that moment, and the request was assigned to the approver(s).
Learning does not support retrieving the approval request from the approver(s), in this scenario. Being removed from the approval role would only affect the next time the same approval process is triggered.
Resolution
Alternatively, to have a different system behavior, it would be possible to have an enhancement request created for it, where the Learning Product Management team can further review and assess the requested functionality to be considered in a future release, and/or check the possibility of a custom solution.
