3170924 - Mandatory Contact Last Name

You see that contact last name in a lead is considered mandatory depsite having activated the scoping question "Do you want to make contact for leads an optional field?" in your system's scope.

SAP Cloud for Customer

Prerequisite : Ensure that the scoping question  "Do you want to make contact for leads an optional field?" is scoped, that there are no KUT rules, as well as checking that the  Mandatory property is not set via layout adaptation.

1. Go to the Sales work center
2. Go to the Leads view
3. Select + and create a new lead
4. You will see that the Contact Last Name field is not marked as mandatory
5. Fill the Other mandatory fields
6. Fill other contact related fields like First name etc.
7. Select Save and Open

You will see that the save is failing as with error as below

Last name missing
Save failed

Selecting the contact optional configuration option within the scoping simply allows a lead to be saved without any contact information.

However, if you enter any data into contact related fields, then the respective validations will be triggered and the system expects the correct, necessary data and therefore overrides this scoping.

In any Business Partner, be it contact, employee, etc., the Last Name is a mandatory field and hence, this is expected behavior.

Since naming conventions expect a Last Name across standards, if you are entering any contact details, then system assumes complete and correct data. So If contact related information is entered then last name is mandatory

This feature change is not suported in the current release of SAP Cloud for Customer
