Symptom
Candidates' names that start with a letter with a special character are not in alphabetical order and appear at the very bottom of the candidates' list.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to a Job Requisition
- Click on Candidates
- Candidates are listed in alphabetical order by First Name in this scenario
- Candidate Álvaro Test is the last one listed
- Alvaro Testtest (whose first name does not have a special character) is listed at the top as expected
- Go then to the Candidates search page and filter by Last Name contains "Test"
- Álvaro Test is again the last one appearing in the list
This can be reproduced also when the alphabetical order is by Last Name and with any language that uses special characters (i.e. Spanish and Polish among others).
Cause
This is a known limitation in the product.
Resolution
The ability to sort special characters and the expected conventions for sorting are currently not supported by the product database.
We understand that this is an important feature for customers, therefore our Engineering team will be coordinating internally to discuss this issue. As of now, it is not possible to offer any timelines for resolution at this time.
