3182479 - Infected with 11 in ptn__setup_pdeslookupopt() may occur on a partitopned table - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • The message, "Current process infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)", may be reported as below in the SAP ASE error log when a client is inserting a row into a partitioned table and another client is running alter table drop partition command on the same table at the same time.
The infected user task held the Pdes Chain Spinlock, so ASE automatically shuts down.

kernel  Current process (0xXXXXXXXX) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
          kernel  Address 0x0x0000000001af0cf2 (ptn__setup_pdeslookupopt+0x2b2), siginfo (code, address) = (1,           0x0x0000000000000064)
          ......
kernel  Spinlock Pdes Chain Spinlocks at address 0x0000000145808e80 owned by <kpid number>

  • The error may be accompanied by a stacktrace referencing the functions:

          kisignal
          ptn__setup_pdeslookupopt
          ptn__get_pdes
          ptn_rowcopy
